St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was a 5th-century missionary and bishop who played a pivotal role in spreading Christianity across the Emerald Isle. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped at age 16 by Irish raiders and enslaved as a shepherd. During his captivity, his faith deepened, and after escaping, he returned to Britain, became a priest, and later felt called to evangelize Ireland.
